Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society -
In our lives, and
probably yours, too, we have been touched by someone with one of the
white blood cell cancers, Leukemia, Lymphoma, or Multiple Myeloma. This society primarily funds
research to find novel drugs and treatments for the blood cancers and
is worthy of your support. Our bass player, Patti, participated
in a marathon on Feb, 2006 in Austin, TX as a fund raiser for the L
& L Soc. and was the 4th highest individual fund raiser for
this race. She raised $5000 the hard way, with no matching funds.
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation also funds research to find a cure for Multiple Myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow), a less well studied and understood blood cancer. Go to their website for more information and to make a donation to this organization. Over 90% of the money they raise goes to research. California Bluegrass Association -The largest Bluegrass club in the world. The newsletter and website are first-class with a great Bluegrass calendar of events.
Northern California Bluegrass Society- Proud sponsors of many San Francisco Bay Area Bluegrass events and maybe the second largest Bluegrass club in California. Great local calendar of Bluegrass events in print and online.
Randy
Allen Guitars - He has made some nice dobros (including Ted's) and
other fine instuments.
The Barefoot Nellies - One of our favorite, all-girl, Bay Area, Bluegrass bands. Grizzly Peak and The Nellies used to share the same bass player, Patti.
The Whoreshoes - An all girl, alt-Americana band. Lots of energy and stage presence. Patti was their first bass player and among other shows played with them at the The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, in March, 2006.
McGrath's Pub - Alameda's home for live music and also hosting some of the Bay Area's best open jam's for many different styles of music including Bluegrass, Swing, Folk, Country, etc. Check out the calendar.
Atlas Cafe - In the city, a cool place for food and Thursdays are Amercana night. The
Plough and Stars -
One of many SF Irish pubs. They present gobs of
live music. We like to play there.
the shut ins - For afficionados of hula-billy, this is the band. Ted sometimes slides around with the shut ins. Everyone always describes them as wacky!
Rick
Glaze-
Ted's latest musical collaboration is a duet show with
singer/songwriter Rick Glaze. Sparse acoustic instrumentation with cool
vocal harmonies. May 26, 2007 opening for Blues Cadillac at the
Firehouse Grill, Sunnyvale.
